Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association
Join the MIPLA Patent Prosecution Section for an engaging look at patent searches. Rather than a tutorial or “how-to” guide in the mechanics of searching, we will address important considerations that inform the planning, execution, and validation of all types of patent searches, including patentability, freedom-to-operate, and invalidity searches. Attendees will learn about budgeting, staffing models, export controls, privileges, evidentiary considerations for invalidity/patentability challenges, metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of a search, and more.
Presenter Bio: Austen Zuege is a patent attorney and officer at Westman, Champlin & Koehler, P.A. in Minneapolis. He is the editor and a co-author of Patent Freedom to Operate Searches, Opinions, Techniques, and Studies (ABA 2017).
Credits: 1 CLE credit is applied for.
