MN IP Law Association Roundtable: DOCX

The MIPLA education committee is delighted to bring you a complimentary in-person CLE on Tuesday, March 5^th over lunch. This one-hour roundtable discussion will discuss the USPTO’s recently implemented requirement to file certain applications in a DOCX format.
 
Beginning January 17, 2024, Applicants must file certain patent applications via the on-line USPTO Patent Center system in a DOCX format or an additional fee must be paid to the USPTO to file in a PDF format. In this roundtable, David Provence of Mueting Raasch Group will lead a discussion of this change in practice. Dr. Provence will review the new requirements, issues with the USPTO's use of application documents filed in DOCX, and possible filing strategies that avoid the use of DOCX format and the fee to file in a PDF format.
 
About the Speaker: David Provence is a Shareholder and Patent Attorney at Mueting Raasch Group in Minneapolis. David practices intellectual property law the life sciences and biotechnology areas, including patent portfolio procurement, management, and strategic counseling.
